Recently acquired and updated, Quinta Mourada offers a cozy and reinvigorating experience to our guests. Located in a beautiful countryside just a few minutes outside of the town of Lourinha, in Portugal’s Silver Coast, we invite you to slow down, and “re” anything you wish: reconnect, rejuvenate, relax, recreate. We have an ideal description for the Quinta in Portuguese that starts with “re”: Recreio, which means recess and also playground. With just 4 ensuite rooms available, Quinta Mourada is an intimate and tranquil setting, perfect for couples, families, and solo travellers. All two and four-legged beings are welcome!
BACKGROUND
Hi! I am Bianca, a Brazilian-American who’s lived a few different lives in a few countries and recently made Portugal my home. Combining my dabbles in homesteading, passion for nature and sharing homemade food and good times with friends and family, I was drawn to creating an unique experience for guests in this breathtaking part of Portugal.
We are much more than a guest house: get ready to find abundant nature in our garden, perfect for reconnecting with yourself. The place provides a healthier rhythm of life that meets what is truly essential, hoping to inspire others to connect with nature, dial back a little while making a positive impact at the same time. Relax in a quiet and cozy corner, cool off in the pool, enjoy the most beautiful goodbyes to the sun, and discover the best of organic and regional cuisine, house wines, culture and crafts!
The name Quinta Mourada is a tribute to the recovery of the history of owner Bianca Moura, who after traveling and living in several cities, chose Portugal for her life proposal: transforming the hosting experience into something meaningful for each of its guests.
All 4 ensuite rooms feature French doors that open to an intimate porch sitting area facing the garden and pool. They are minimally decorated with traditional and vintage Portuguese accessories and equipped with an AC/heater unit, Wi-Fi, custom-made bed with local pine, a new 25 cm natural foam mattress, cotton bedding and towels – all made in Portugal. Additionally, each suite includes black-out curtains, a hairdryer, natural soaps, and candles.
On the grounds of Quinta Mourada, you may wander around the vineyards, the recently planted orchard, venture into the property’s forest beyond the creek, or go for walks on any of the beautiful trails right outside the gates. You can also pick veggies and herbs from the garden, lounge around the pool, sit by the fully stocked grillhouse and enjoy coffee drinks, locally made draft beer or fresh fruit juices
There are a few other recess options, such as the brilliant living room featuring a big skylight, an air conditioning/heating unit, record player and a cozy fireplace where you can relax, play cards or board games, and watch TV. Down a spiral stairway from the living room is a wine cellar with a large dining area as well as a Finnish-style sauna down the hall. To maximize the many health benefits of the sauna, may use the shower in the adjacent bathroom, the outdoor one as you exit into the backyard or jump in the pool. There is also an expansive lounge above the dining area in the old cellar room, featuring 3 large pallet couches, an antique fireplace and a projector ready for all your entertainment needs, including movie watching, yoga, exercise or dancing session.
The breakfast will be served in the original cellar, but you may choose to eat on the porch in your room or by the pool area. When you feel like cooking the other meals, you can bring in your groceries and cook or grill in one of the two fully equipped communal kitchens, one indoors and the other by the pool, both featuring woodfire ovens.
In a setting where the cleaning products are either homemade or natural, the meals and beverages are made with local and fresh ingredients, food scraps are enjoyed by the chickens or go back into the soil, you will be encouraged to dial back a bit in a soothing environment, as in former times.
